Living on the Edge

Life is all about the adventure! This summer we’re quitting our jobs in Vietnam and hitting the road once again. We’ve been ‘settled’ for over a year while teaching in Saigon, and we’re both feeling the itch to travel again.

I’ve been all over Asia, and shamefully with my head hung low– have yet to see most of my motherland, the US of A. Things are about to change. We’re renting a car and hitting the Pacific Coastal highway, (just like all the cheesy movies!) for one of the best road trips in America.

I want to gawk in amazement at the Grand Canyon, put $20 on black in Vegas, and party with some West Coast hippies in San Fran.

When I read about Travel Glam’s pretty incredible competition, I thought why not add an Aerobatic Flight over the Hoover Dam to my list? Minus this competition, I would have never imagined me in a plane doing loops, swirls, and rolls. I read that the plane also does something called a hammerhead and a tail slide– I’m not even sure I want to know what they are!

Travel is all about experiencing something new, and doing things you would never imagine yourself doing. Adventure travel, living on the edge!

Before moving abroad I would have told anyone they were crazy if they would have said I’d:

  1. Hike to Mt. Everest’s Base Camp
  2. Bungee Jump in South Korea
  3. Ride a motorbike over 1,000 miles in Vietnam (HCMC to Hanoi!)

But.. somehow, I did.

I’m sure I’d be screaming and shaking with fear as I was strapped into the plane, and the pilot might duct tape my mouth shut, but upon landing I’d be begging the pilot for one last tail slide and roll through the West Coast’s skies.
