Photo Friday: Amritsar's Sanctuary of Sikhism

 

The Golden Temple in Amritsar, also known as the Harmandir Sahib, is Sikhism's most holy temple. It is a truly awesome sight to behold, the gold gleaming in the sunlight above & reflecting in the lake's holy water below. There is a sense of calm around the complex & the atmosphere is one of awe as Sikhs come in huge numbers to pay homage to their 10 masters & catch a glimpse of the Guru Granth Sahib, their holy book housed inside the temple.

A truly awesome experience & surely one of the most beautiful temples in the world.
